Where It Started
POD began with bodysurfing. The handboard designs, the fin engineering and the material research behind the brand today all trace back to one question: how do you extend what the human body already does on a wave face without replacing it? That question has not changed since 1988, and neither has the standard it demands.
Handboards and Handplanes
POD bodysurfing handboards work with your body position and help you hold your line through the wave. The WOW 13 in polyurethane gives lightweight lift and directional hold with no maintenance. The Hand Body Soul® cedar and walnut range comes in three sizes, from the compact EGO 225mm through the all-round WOO 300mm to the FLO 375mm with the most surface. The Original Classic in polypropylene offers neutral buoyancy and the proven durability of the 1993 design. Every model shares the same concave bottom, integrated keel fin and ergonomic palm deck. How to Choose a Handboard Based on Conditions and Style matches each board to your waves.
Swim Fins
Your kick puts you onto the wave, and the fin extends it. POD PF series fins are moulded from natural Malaysian Floating Rubber for a controlled kick and long-session comfort. The PF1, PF2 and PF3 are three distinct tools, not a ladder from beginner to advanced. The PF1 has a forgiving flex. The PF2 adds vertical rails and a sole ramp-up for wave hold. The PF3 Evolution centres the load over the foot with an asymmetric blade, easing strain on the ankles and knees in heavier conditions.
Fin Accessories
POD 3mm Neoprene Fin Socks, Deluxe Fin Savers and Swim Fin Savers and Heel Protectors close the gaps that make rubber fins slip, rub or come off in turbulent water. Swim Fin Fit and Comfort shows which one fixes which problem.
Designed From the Water Up
Bodysurfing leaves no room for excess. There is no board to compensate, and every element must earn its place. POD focuses on how equipment behaves in moving water, across different breaks and over the long term. Shapes, materials and flex patterns are refined step by step, tested repeatedly, and changed only when the result is measurably better.
Questions Bodysurfers Ask
Can you bodysurf without fins? You can, in small waves close to shore. Fins let you kick onto waves earlier and swim back out through the break, which matters more as the surf gets bigger. Body Surfing With or Without a Board explains what changes.
Is bodysurfing dangerous? It can be, mostly in shallow water and rips, where a wave can drive you into the sand. Know your limits and the conditions before you paddle out. The same article covers it in full.
Which fins suit wide feet? Fit comes from foot width and ankle measurement, not shoe size. The POD Fit Finder on each PF product page uses both, and natural rubber gives up to 5mm of stretch. Find Your Right Size Swim Fins Online shows you how to measure.
