Swim Fins: How to Choose Bodysurfing Fins

Selecting the Right Pair of Swim Fins

When choosing a pair of body surfing fins, POD Ware highly recommends that “Comfort” and “Fit” be the number one most important factor.

Second should be “Performance”, and the third is “Price”, as we say… If you have Comfort and Performance is worth the price you pay.

Let's address these two bodysurfing fins features.

Having the correct fit swim fins provides comfort for those long session bodysurfing, not only will it provide peace of mind having comfort and a nice snug fit, this ensure your feet will thrust in parallel with your swim fins performing the best results from a quality rubber pair of body surfing swim fins.

Comfort

The fin should fit snugly without squeezing your foot or toes. If it to tight, you'll get cramps.

The opening of the foot pocket and fin strap should be nice and snug, and if either is loose, they are more than likely with slip off in the surf.

However, it is less than a few millimetres around the foot pocket opening you can wear POD 3mm Neoprene Fin Socks for snug fit and a further comfort.

If it is snug around the foot pocket, but the fin strap is still loose? You can where POD Neoprene Heel Protects and Fin Savers for a better fit, heel protection and fins safety.

All of the POD fins are comfortable and top of the line quality rubber. Make sure you pick the size that corresponds with our sizing foot chart info given.

We take returns for exchange minus shipping costs as long as you haven't used them in the surf and you return them within 30 days after you receive them.

Performance

A fin should provide right thrust. We offer "symmetric" a blade that shaped the same on both sides which provided excellent balance and less load on your feet, ankles and knees.

Asymmetric fins have a blade that is diagonal, even so, the PF3 POD fins asymmetric blade edge has been designed with the blade curvature more towards the centre to feel more like the asymmetric blade, with the extra advantage of extra trust and wave holding ability.

Shorter blades provide a quicker start, but it means you have to give more kicks to get the same distance as a longer fin. However, longer blade fins can also add more load to your feet, ankles and knees.

Now here’s a run down of our POD bodysurfing fins, what they are best suited for:

Final Wrap

All three model POD Swim Fins PF1, PF2 and PF3 all have extended foot pockets for versatile fittings to ensure first and foremost “Comfort”.

Symmetric models POD Swim Fins namely the POD Fins PF1 and PF2 will provide excellent balance and distributing the load equally across your ankles, knees and leg muscles. If by any chance you have had any leg injuries these two model bodysurfing fins best suit you.

Last of all the POD Fins PF3, even though they are asymmetric blades and foot pockets, in the design process there was a lot of thought that was taken into consideration to produce a model with the extra thrust that feels closer to a symmetric models balance, to reduce the load on your ankles and knees unlike other asymmetric rubber swim fins.
