Duo POD EGO 225mm Handboards - Dual Hand Cedar and Walnut Bodysurfing Handplanes
The Duo POD Handboards system pairs two EGO 225mm (9-inch) cedar and walnut bodysurfing handboards to create a balanced, dual-hand approach to bodysurfing. Rather than increasing performance on its own, this setup works with your body position, stroke, and timing, helping you move more evenly through the water and maintain control across both sides of your line.
Riding with a matched pair introduces symmetry. It reduces imbalance between strokes, improves connection through the water, and allows the rider to hold flow more consistently through changing sections of the wave.
Dual-Hand Control and Balance
The compact, agile design of each EGO handboard, with its 22cm x 20cm planing surface, makes it well suited to dual-hand use. With both hands engaged, control becomes more evenly distributed, allowing smoother transitions, cleaner lines, and greater stability as conditions change.
Swimmers use hand paddles to increase surface area, strengthening the stroke while maintaining balance through both sides of the body. The Duo system follows the same principle in the ocean. With both hands working together, you engage more water, stay aligned, and move more cleanly into the wave.

Cedar and Walnut - POD Wood Construction
Each EGO in the Duo set reflects POD's long-standing approach to material selection and construction. A solid walnut centre provides structural strength, while lighter cedar sections contribute responsiveness and controlled flex.
This combination allows each board to respond naturally to movement in the water, while working together as a matched pair to maintain balance and consistency.
Each handboard is produced through CAD design, precision CNC machining, laser engraving, and careful hand finishing. Natural variations in timber grain ensure every pair is unique.
Palm Support, Strap System, and Bottom Shape
Using both hands increases control, but comfort remains essential. Each EGO handboard is shaped to support a natural swimming position and efficient transfer of force.
- Ergonomic palm support: A convex deck supports the natural curvature of the hand, reducing strain and helping maintain a relaxed swimming position. Both hands sit over their respective pivot points, allowing the boards to work with your movement.
- Purpose-built strap system: Custom 50 mm retainers secure wide 65 mm double-padded neoprene straps, distributing pressure evenly across both hands and maintaining a stable connection without over-tightening.
- Hydrodynamic bottom shape: Each board carries a deep 16 mm concave with an integrated keel fin, working with water flow to support lift, directional control, and cleaner movement across the wave. Together the pair helps maintain balance and control through the wave.

Care and Longevity
Proper care ensures your Duo handboards continue to perform and age naturally.
- Strap adjustment: Set each strap snugly once. For regular use, slide your hands between the strap and palm support to preserve Velcro longevity.
- Protective storage: Supplied with reusable packaging and a hemp drawstring cover for protection during transport and storage.
- Avoid excess heat: Do not leave the boards in hot cars or direct sunlight. Heat affects timber and protective finishes.
- Inspect and maintain: Check for signs of wear and recoat with marine-grade satin when required.

Your Partnership with the Duo System
The Duo setup is about balance through both sides of the body. It responds to your stroke, your positioning, and how you engage with the water across both hands.
In return, your POD® originals will support control, symmetry, and consistent flow through a wide range of conditions.
A Legacy of Bodysurfing Design
Since the 1980s, POD founder and designer Shane Vassallo has shaped and refined handboards - bodysurfing handplanes, hand planes, and handboards across cedar, walnut, and limited timber species. That design lineage spans over 35 years of hands-on experimentation in real surf conditions and is documented in Successful 30 Years.

Just what I wanted in a Handboard and I got two, Great craftsmanship a lot of detailing on top and bottom of board can't wait to get into the waves
