Waterproof Backpack 40L - Full Gear Carry for Ocean Sports and Travel
The POD Waterproof Backpack 40L is a high-capacity dry bag built for surfers, swimmers, travellers, and ocean athletes who need extra space for full gear setups, wetsuits, fins, towels, and more. Made from heavy-duty PVC tarpaulin with electronically heat-welded seams, it protects gear from water, sand, and harsh outdoor conditions across extended sessions and travel.
The 40L is the full gear carry in the POD waterproof system. Where the 25L handles daily use, the 40L handles everything else.

Construction and Protection
Built from tear- and puncture-resistant PVC tarpaulin with a seamless, high-frequency-welded construction, the 40L delivers dependable waterproof protection for ocean sports, beach use, and travel. The two-option sealing system allows either a roll-top or roll-side closure to create a secure, airtight, and watertight barrier.
The dual front pocket system keeps essentials separate from the main load. Reinforced welded boundaries around each pocket maintain panel stability and consistent performance under tension, a design detail that proved critical during development testing.
Why 40L and Not 45L
The 40L classification reflects honest measurement. Actual rolled dimensions and real usable capacity were calculated accurately, rather than inflated to match a larger marketing number. The result is a bag that performs exactly as described, a principle that runs through every POD product decision.
IPX6 Waterproof Protection
The IPX6-rated zippers protect against high-pressure water spray from any direction. Testing includes exposure to 100 litres per minute at a minimum pressure of 15 psi for up to 3 minutes from all directions. Suitable for brief accidental submersion when sealed correctly.

How to Seal Your 40L Waterproof Backpack
Step 1 - Roll the Airtight Seal
Roll the black webbing forward tightly three times toward the front of the bag until the Velcro attaches. This creates the airtight waterproof seal.

Once rolled, two sealing options are available. The Top Seal suits quick access and frequent opening. The Side Seal suits compact positioning and longer carry periods.
Step 2 - Quick Lock with the Top Buckle
Bring the end clip around and lock it into the top buckle to secure the rolled seal. Suited to short use - moving between the car, home, or beach.

Step 3 - Secure with the Side Compression Straps
Clip the side buckles on both sides and tighten the compression straps to secure the rolled seal. Creates a flatter profile and is recommended for longer carry periods.

The 40L dimensions were developed with carry-on compatibility in mind. At 56cm height, 33cm width, and 17.5cm depth after rolling, the bag fits within or close to most airline carry-on limits, making it a practical travel companion without the bulk of oversized waterproof alternatives.
Pair the 40L with POD bodysurfing fins and handboards or POD swim fins and bodyboarding bundles to build a complete ocean gear transport system.
More Gear. Same Protection. Ready for Anywhere.
