The POD 25L Waterproof Backpack and Handcrafted Cedar Handboard pair a durable carry system with a limited-production timber handplane. The cedar handboard is individually numbered, hand-coated in marine varnish, and built to last years in regular ocean use. The backpack carries it there and back - sealed against water, sand, and impact. Between sessions the handboard stays dry, protected, and ready.
POD Waterproof Backpack 25L
The POD 25L is made from heavy-duty PVC tarpaulin with electronically heat-welded seams. The main compartment holds 25 litres and seals with a dual-option roll-top closure. Roll the webbing forward three times to create an airtight, watertight seal, then secure with either the top buckle for quick access or the side compression straps for longer carry. The bag floats when sealed correctly.
An IPX6-rated zipper front pocket protects valuables and phones. The IPX6 rating covers exposure to 100 litres per minute at a minimum pressure of 15 psi for up to 3 minutes from all directions. Padded shoulder straps, an adjustable chest strap, a ventilated back panel, a carry handle, and two D-ring attachment points complete the carry system. Available in Black/Black, Black/Green, Black/Orange, Black/White, and Black/Yellow.

How to Seal
- Step 1 - Roll the black webbing forward tightly three times until the Velcro attaches
- Top Seal - Step 2 - Bring the end clip around and lock into the top buckle for quick access
- Side Seal - Step 3 - Clip and lock the side buckles and tighten the compression straps for a compact, secure fit during longer carry

POD Original Handcrafted Cedar Handboard
Since the late 1980s, POD founder and designer Shane Vassallo has handcrafted each signature shape from select-grade Australian cedar. Each board is individually numbered, reflecting its unique grain, weight, and year of creation. Natural variations in timber grain, colour, and weight mean no two boards are identical.
Each board arrives hand-coated a minimum of eight times in marine varnish, with light sanding between each coat for durability, water resistance, and a refined satin finish. It is supplied in a black drawstring neoprene bag.
The convex deck supports a natural hand position in the palm. The concave bottom and keel fin work with water flow to support lift and directional hold through the wave, keeping the board from sliding downward and reducing spray toward the face.
