The Most Structured Fin in the PF Series - Made for Bodysurfing and Bodyboarding
The PF2 is the firmest fin in the PF Series, built for riders who want drive they can feel on every kick. We mould it from natural Malaysian rubber, with vertical rails that run out to the edge of a symmetric Chisel Blade®. On a wave, the rails grip the face and hold your legs in it, giving you control a bare foot can't.
Where the PF1 lets its rail flow into the blade, the PF2 carries vertical rails right to the edge, and that is where its firmness comes from. Where the PF3 uses an asymmetric blade and pocket, the PF2 keeps both symmetric, so the load spreads evenly across the fin. Riders and swimmers who want the same predictable response on every kick choose the PF2 for exactly that reason.
Its variegated colour straps and rails are a POD design, made with our rubber factory. The colours come from ocean life, and each pair carries its own pattern, so no two sets are the same.
How the PF2 Moves Water
Your foot was never built to grip water. The PF2 gives the same leg movement a blade and rails that are, so every kick turns into more drive and propulsion, with control over where it goes. We shaped each surface to hold the water your kick moves and send it to the edge of the Chisel Blade®, with every part working as one system.
-
Vertical rails: On top, the vertical rails hold a volume of water against the blade and direct it towards the blade edge on the thrust of each kick
-
Splay Rails®: Along each side, the Splay Rails push water outwards and back along the fin rather than letting it slip away off the sides
-
Deep channels: Under the fin, a deep channel runs beside each Splay Rail along the outer sole. On the back kick, the channels catch water like a cupped hand, then carry it out along the underside and away past the blade.
-
Tread Rails®: Running parallel to the channels along the underside and out to the blade edge, the Tread Rails® carry a raised edge on the inside of each rail in the sole pattern. They reinforce the sole and grip underfoot, like shoe tread.
-
Chisel Blade®: Water from the top and the underside meets at the blade edge and leaves the fin in a streamlined flow
-
Sand and water release: A drain opening at the end of the foot pocket flushes water and sand straight out, rather than trapping sand at the toe end the way holes under the sole do
Top and underside work together on the kick down and the kick back, and the flow holds while you tread water.
Foot Pocket to Blade Length - Finding the Balance
Every centimetre a blade reaches past the foot lengthens the lever, and with it the load through the foot and leg on each kick. Long, soft dive fins can carry that length. A surf fin needs a firmer blade, and the PF2 is the firmest of the three, so its blade reaches no more than about half a foot length beyond your toes, the same limit as the PF1.
Getting the balance right between blade drive and the load returned to your legs took years of testing. Riders feel it as comfort, along with the soft natural rubber, and we built every other feature on the PF2 around it.
Where the PF2 Works Well
-
Bodysurfing and bodyboarding: Vertical rails hold into the wave face, and the symmetric blade responds the same on either side, so the fin suits a wide range of riders and waves
-
Swimming and open water: A firm, even kick for training sets, ocean swims and long sessions where a steady rhythm matters
-
Kneeboarding: The board does the planing, and the PF2 extends the short bursts of kicking you need to get into the wave
-
Rescue, lifesaving and ocean photography: The fin holds its shape under repeated load, from flat water to heavy swell
Questions About the PF2
Can swimming with fins hurt your knees or ankles?
It can, if the blade is too long or too stiff for your legs, or the fins don't fit. A longer, stiffer blade works as a longer lever, so every kick sends more load back through your ankle and knee. The PF2 is the firmest fin in the PF Series, so POD keeps its blade length in proportion to the foot pocket to hold that load down. Kick from the hip with a relaxed knee rather than bending hard at the knee, and build up your session length gradually. If pain doesn't settle, stop and see a physio.
Should swim fins be tight or loose?
Snug, not tight. Your foot should sit fully in the pocket with no gap at the heel and no pressure points across your toes or the top of your foot. Too tight restricts circulation and cramps your feet over a session. Too loose, and the fin moves on your foot, rubs, and can come off in the surf. PF2 natural rubber stretches up to 5 mm in the pocket and 10 to 15 mm at the strap, so a fit that feels firm on dry land settles once it's wet. If your foot sits at the lower end of a size, 3mm neoprene fin socks close up the gap. The POD Fit Finder works it out from your foot measurements.
What fins should I use for bodyboarding?
Short-bladed fins with rails that hold into the wave. The bodyboard does the planing, so your fins only need short, strong kicks to get you into the wave and help you hold your line. A long dive-style blade just gets in the way. Once you're riding, the rails on the fin bite into the face and keep your legs from sliding down. The PF2's vertical rails run right to the blade edge, and its symmetric blade responds the same on either side. Natural rubber also floats, so a fin that comes off in the shore break comes back up.

PF2 Size Comparisons
Blade width and length grow together across the sizes, so the fin keeps the same balanced response as it scales up.
POD PF2 Swim Fin Features

- Sic Cut® profile keeps the fin light while it holds its shape under load
- Variegated colour straps and rails inspired by ocean life, with every pair uniquely patterned
Shoe Size and Swim Fin Fit
Your shoe size won't tell you your fin size. Every brand sizes differently, rubber stretches, and foot pockets vary in shape. The PF2's firmer response puts more load through your foot, so an accurate fit matters more.

Refining PF2 Fit for Comfort and Control
Once the surf picks up, how securely the PF2 sits on your foot matters as much as the size.
If you use your PF2 fins in surf, shore break or moving water, POD Deluxe Fin Straps keep them on through entry, exit and heavy water movement.
If the heel feels slightly loose or pressure builds during a long session, POD Swim Fin Savers and Heel Protectors settle the heel and stop the strap rubbing.
For feet at the lower end of the foot pocket range, POD 3mm Neoprene Fin Socks tighten the fit, stop your foot from moving inside the pocket, and add warmth in cooler water. Enter your foot measurements into the POD Fit Finder and it tells you whether socks, heel pads or fin savers will help fit and comfort. Then consider how you plan to ride, and whether those results will benefit you.
Natural Rubber - What to Expect on Arrival
Your PF2 may arrive with a light white powder or a waxy film on the rubber. That is normal for natural Malaysian rubber and not a defect, so you can use the fins straight away.
It comes from the mould release used in manufacture and from natural compounds rising to the surface of the rubber. Tyres and other natural rubber products show the same thing.
-
On black rubber: The contrast makes it easier to see
-
If it turns powdery later: Rinse the fins in hot water and it dissolves
Rubber Memory
Natural rubber has memory, so it holds the shape it came out of the mould with. If heat or storage bends your PF2 out of shape, soak it in hot water and it relaxes back.
Care and Use
Use the PF2 for swimming, bodysurfing, bodyboarding, kneeboarding, lifesaving and ocean photography.
Walk backwards in your fins on sand and rocks. The blade lasts longer when it isn't bent under your weight.
