PF3 Evolution POD Swim Fins - Asymmetric Blade Control for Bodysurfing, Bodyboarding and Swimming

The PF3 Evolution is the longest fin in the POD PF Series and the most flexible. It is an asymmetric swim fin made from natural Malaysian rubber, suited to bodysurfing, bodyboarding, swimming, and ocean use in more demanding conditions.

The asymmetric blade is longer than both the PF1 and PF2, yet it produces more flex than either. That is because the asymmetric geometry shifts the load away from the toe edge and centres it over the foot. The result is a blade that moves with the body more naturally through each kick, maintaining direction and stability without the rigidity of a symmetric design.

Like the PF2, the PF3 carries vertical rails that extend to the blade edge. Those rails improve wave hold and keep the legs from sliding down the wave face. What makes the PF3 distinct is the asymmetric blade and foot pocket working alongside that rail structure. The foot pocket follows the natural contour of the foot rather than evenly distributing the stretch. This can feel different from the PF1 or PF2, even in the correct size, and where a more secure fit is preferred, POD 3mm Neoprene Fin Socks will refine that connection.

The PF3 suits experienced riders who want a fin that responds precisely to their movements, particularly in conditions where timing, direction, and positioning matter most. It is available in sizes SM through L.

Manufactured at our Malaysian natural rubber fin factory, POD is the first to develop variegated-colour straps and rails, producing unique colour patterns inspired by ocean life. No two pairs are identical.

Where the PF3 Works Well

  • Bodysurfing: Asymmetric blade centres load over the foot, supporting precise direction and stability through moving water and wave conditions
  • Bodyboarding: Vertical rails hold position on the wave face with the asymmetric blade adding flex and directional response through each kick
  • Swimming and open water: Longer blade supports sustained movement with a more flexible response than the PF2 across extended sessions
  • Ocean photography and lifesaving: Reliable movement and control under repeated load in varied conditions

POD PF3 Swim Fin Features

  • Natural buoyant rubber compounds, manufactured in Malaysia
  • Asymmetric blade - longest in the PF Series - produces the most flex of all three models
  • Asymmetric geometry centres load over the foot rather than the toe edge
  • Vertical rails extend to the blade edge, improving wave hold and preventing legs from sliding down the wave face
  • Asymmetric foot pocket follows the natural contour of the foot for a precise connection under load
  • Splay Rails® combined with the asymmetric blade to guide directional movement through the water
  • Cross-laminated construction with overlapping layers of varying hardness for structural durability
  • Soft rubber-lined extended foot pocket for secure, comfortable fit
  • Drainage channels allow rapid release of water and sand from the foot pocket
  • Variegated colour straps and rails inspired by ocean life - each pair uniquely patterned

Swim Fins and Shoe Size

Shoe size is not a reliable guide for swim fins. Rubber stretch, foot pocket shape, and brand sizing all vary. With the PF3, where the asymmetric pocket stretches differently from a symmetric design, using the Fit Finder before selecting is especially important.

POD PF3 Swim Fin Sizing

For the most accurate fit, use the POD Fit Finder or the measurements below to match your foot and ankle dimensions.

Step 1 - Foot Length and Width

  • Small/Medium: 7-8 - Length 24 cm, Width 9 cm
  • Medium: 8-9 - Length 25 cm, Width 9.5 cm
  • Medium/Large: 9-10 - Length 26 cm, Width 10 cm
  • Large: 10-11 - Length 27 cm, Width 10.5 cm
  • Measurements are maximum sizes before stretch.
  • Natural rubber stretch allowance up to 5 mm for a snug fit

Step 2 - Ankle Width for Strap Fit

  • Small/Medium: 7-8 - Width 9.5 cm
  • Medium: 8-9 - Width 10 cm
  • Medium/Large: 9-10 - Width 10.5 cm
  • Large: 10-11 - Width 11 cm
  • Measurements are before stretch.
  • Strap stretch allowance of 10-15 mm for a secure, non-slip fit
  • View the PF3 size chart here.

Complete Your PF3 Fit and Ocean Setup

Getting the right size is the first step. With the PF3, where load and conditions are more demanding, fit security is more important.

If you are using your PF3 fins in surf, shore break, or moving water, POD Deluxe Fin Straps help maintain a consistent fin connection through entry, exit, and turbulent movement.

Under sustained load, pressure through the heel and strap can increase over longer sessions. POD Swim Fin Savers and Heel Protectors reduce friction at the heel while maintaining a secure connection between foot, strap, and fin.

For riders at the tighter end of the fit range, or where slight internal movement affects control, POD 3mm Neoprene Fin Socks refine fit, improve internal grip, and add warmth in colder water. The POD Fit Finder will also indicate when socks, heel pads, or fin savers are worth considering based on your foot dimensions and how you plan to use the fins.

Built to Last

Natural Malaysian rubber maintains its properties over years of exposure to salt water, chlorine, and UV light. A customer recently shared a pair of PF3 fins that are over ten years old and still performing as intended. That is not a marketing claim. It is the material doing what it was chosen to do.

Natural Rubber - What to Expect on Arrival

PF3 POD swim fins are made from premium natural Malaysian rubber. A light white powder or waxy residue on the surface is normal and is not a defect.

It comes from mould release agents used during production and from natural compounds in the rubber that rise to the surface. It is more visible on darker rubber.

  • Note on colour: Residue shows more clearly on black rubber due to contrast
  • To remove: Wash with warm to hot water before first use

Care and Use

POD natural rubber swim fins are made for swimming, bodysurfing, bodyboarding, lifesaving, and ocean photography.

Walk backwards when wearing fins. It preserves the blade and extends the fins' lifespan.

POD fins are manufactured for use within the stated and engraved size range. Using a size more than one size below the specified size alters the intended foot-to-blade ratio and may result in an improper fit or reduced function. Fitting fins to feet larger than the stated size may cause overstretching or overloading, which can compromise the structural integrity of the fin. Such misuse voids warranty coverage. POD rubber fins are made for swimming and are not intended for walking or running. Bending or flexing the blade beyond 35° in any direction may cause tearing or cracking of the blade or sole. Damage resulting from such actions is not covered under warranty. To minimise the risk of damage when moving in shallow water, fins should be used for swimming only. Avoid walking or running forward while wearing fins. Where movement on land or in shallow water is necessary, walking backwards will help prevent undue stress to the blade and foot cavity. This warranty does not affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

    Bigger than expected

Posted by Monty on 22nd Apr 2026

The flippers are bigger than expected. I am a size 11 and bought the large(10-11). I measured my foot and thought they were most likely going to be small as I was on the cusp of the size. They are quite loose so I will need to go the next size down. Other than that they are a great well built flipper.

    PF3

Posted by Ben on 15th Mar 2026

The PF3s are extremely comfortable, with a well-designed foot pocket that feels great even during longer sessions. What really stands out though is the power. These fins generate a huge amount of thrust and feel incredibly efficient in the water. In a market where a lot of brands seem to be releasing minor variations of the same old Churchill-style template, the PF3s genuinely stand out. They feel innovative rather than derivative, and the performance reflects that. The design clearly focuses on power, comfort and control, and it delivers on all three.

    The best fins

Posted by Paul Graveson on 17th Aug 2025

Hi fellas. Just have to say love the PF3 fins. I've been kneeboarding for decades and always use fins. Due to various disappointments with other leading brands I decided to try pod and WOW Im converted big time. Quality and floating properties of rubber were the first positives. User comfort and blade drive have left the biggest smile on my face. The other brands have dropped the ball and cut too many corners. Pod have hit the lead in producing the best fins I've had in years the PF3s are the bomb

    Best Fins for Wide Feet

    Posted by Sponger004 on 20th Nov 2024

The pod 2s and pod 3s foot pocket is the best and comfiest out there for wide feet. I am a size 13 double extra wide in USA and the size L fit me perfect. No other fin compares. I love the Pod 2s and Pod 3s have a little bit stronger kick because of the fin blade and I can speed up quick. Been sponging for 15 years and so glad I found this company. Highly recommend!!!!!! Also, Shane is amazing with customer support and quick to respond. Kudos!

PF3 EVOLUTION POD SWIM FINS - NEW VARIEGATED COLOUR RANGE

Posted by Andrew Neil Masterson on 6th May 2024

The PF3 EVOLUTION POD SWIM FINS - NEW VARIEGATED COLOUR RANGE, are great. These are my fourth pair of pods. Over the years I’ve tried so many different brands. But now I am truly satisfied with the pods. Nothing else compares. These fins give so much more thrust when needed, also very comfortable. Looking at the fins and the colour mix, it’s so cool how the colours are along the edge. Must have taken some pretty interesting design and technology to make it look so good. Well done POD . Purchased only, so easy. Once again, well done and thanks for putting in the effort to design and deliver a great product. I highly recommend POD fins to all those who really want to get on top of your surf game.

get a distributor back in Hawaii

Posted by Garrett on 3rd May 2024

Aloha, Your fins are so awesome, you guys gotta get a distributor back in Hawaii. I ordered through your website, shipping was killer but still worth it. I’ve only had them a couple weeks and have had several people ask me about them. Local motion & T&C surf shops are quite big y’all should reach out to them. I’ve used just about every fin out there, and the pf3’s are so dope, super comfortable maneuverable, but also hold you on the face. I love the original vipers, but they aren’t as comfortable or maneuverable. I’ve had all 4 versions you’ve put out over the years, this newest pf3 is my fav for sure. Mahalo

    PF3s Absolutely Amazing!!!

Posted by Stefan Jantschulev on 19th Apr 2024

Shane, Stefan here: my son and I had three sessions with your PF3s: absolutely amazing!!!! The best fins we have ever experienced! We tested them against a no name and a Dafin Pro: yours are so much more comfortable, more powerful and so much better designed! Glad you made them! Congratulations! What we like: the ease of slow pace propulsion, the power in a burst, the wide foot pocket, the drainage cutout and the wide ankle band!!! All top design! Something else: I find it absolutely ingenious to design a full length sharp edge down to the fin tips on both sides, so that don’t lose water sideways. And apart from that, these colours are awesome.

    PF3 Fins

Posted by James Hodder on 20th Oct 2023

Great fins had a few pairs now and they work awesome and the most powerful fins for Bodyboarding that i have used thus far. One word of precaution is to make sure when entering the water or leaving, do not over flex the point where the toe part meets the blade as for over time this will split.
