+ How to Measure Foot Length + Width

Use a ruler and paper against a wall to measure foot length from heel to longest toe. Width is measured at the widest point, as shown in the diagram.

New Variegated Colour PF3 Range - Bodysurfing Fins, Bodyboarding Fins and Ocean Photography Swim Fins

The PF3 Evolution POD Swim Fins represent the most advanced stage of fin design in the POD range. Developed for experienced bodysurfers, bodyboarders and ocean photographers, the PF3s are engineered to handle higher loads, sustain propulsion and provide precise control in powerful water conditions.

PF3 Design Evolution

The PF3 Evolution builds on the PF2 platform and advances it with an asymmetrical blade configuration. This design improves directional control, balances load distribution across the foot and ankle, and increases thrust efficiency under sustained pressure.

PF3 swim fins are chosen by riders who already understand technique and demand predictable power delivery rather than forgiveness.

POD PF3 Quality Rubber Swim Fin Features

  • Asymmetrical blade design for precision balance and controlled thrust
  • Optimised foot size to blade length ratio for load management
  • Manufactured from premium natural buoyant Malaysian rubber compounds
  • Lightweight with controlled buoyancy for extended sessions
  • POD patented lamination technique for structural durability
  • Soft rubber-lined extended foot pocket for secure, comfortable fit.
  • Unique Splay Rails® combined with an asymmetric blade for directed propulsion
  • Vertical rails increase wave-holding stability and control.
  • The drainage system efficiently releases water and sand.

Swim Fins and Shoe Size

Shoe size is not a reliable way to select swim fins. Rubber fins rely on stretch, structure, and precise fit rather than adjustable systems.

At the PF3 level, small differences in fit can affect control under load, so always refer to the model-specific size chart or use the POD Fit Finder for accuracy.

POD PF3 Swim Fin Sizing

For the most accurate fit, use the measurements below or the POD Fit Finder to match your foot and ankle dimensions.

Step 1 - Foot Length and Width

  • Small/Medium: 7-8 = Length 24 cm | Width 9 cm
  • Medium: 8-9 = Length 25 cm | Width 9.5 cm
  • Medium/Large: 9-10 = Length 26 cm | Width 10 cm
  • Large: 10-11 = Length 27 cm | Width 10.5 cm
  • Measurements are maximum sizes before stretch
  • Allow up to 5 mm stretch for a secure fit

Step 2 - Ankle Width for Strap Fit

  • Small/Medium: 7-8 = Width 9.5 cm
  • Medium: 8-9 = Width 10 cm
  • Medium/Large: 9-10 = Width 10.5 cm
  • Large: 10-11 = Width 11 cm
  • Measurements are before stretch.
  • Strap stretch range: 10 to 15 mm
  • View the PF3 size chart here.

Stabilising PF3 Performance in Powerful Conditions

The PF3 is designed for higher loads, sustained propulsion, and precise control, which means small changes in fit or retention become more noticeable in powerful water. When using PF3 fins in surf or heavy conditions, POD Deluxe Fin Straps help maintain consistent fin connection during entry, exit, and turbulent movement where fin loss can occur.

Under sustained load, pressure through the heel and strap can increase over longer sessions. POD Swim Fin Savers and Heel Protectors help stabilise the heel interface, reducing friction while maintaining a secure connection between foot, strap, and fin.

For riders operating at the tighter end of tolerance, or where slight internal movement affects control, POD 3mm Neoprene Fin Socks can refine fit, improve internal grip, and add protection in colder water. The POD Fit Finder will also indicate when socks, heel support, or fin savers may be beneficial based on your measurements and usage conditions.

Durability and Longevity

High-performance swim fins must withstand years of load, stretch and exposure. Cheap rubber formulations fail early. PF3s do not.

Please don’t take our word for it. Independent user evidence continues to validate the longevity of PF3 POD swim fins.

Recently, a customer shared a well-documented pair of PF3 fins that are over ten years old and still performing as intended. That level of durability is not marketing language; it is sustainable manufacturing proven through real-world use.

The Mark of Quality - Understanding the Factory Finish

When unpacking your PF3 POD swim fins, you may notice a light white film or matte residue. This is not a defect.

This natural finish, known as blooming, results from the organic mould release agent used during production. It is most visible on black rubber and confirms the fins are factory-fresh and unused.

To remove the residue, simply rinse the fins in HOT water before first use.

Important Use and Fit Advice

If your foot matches the width measurement but is slightly longer, the extended foot pocket can accommodate this within limits.

PF3 fins are not designed to fit feet that exceed the size chart measurements by more than 1 cm. Overstretching compromises rubber integrity and voids the warranty.

POD swim fins are designed for swimming and propulsion, not forward walking or running. Walking backwards preserves structure and extends product life.

Comfort first. Performance next. When both are right, the value speaks for itself.

POD Fins are precisely engineered for use within the stated and engraved size range. Using a size below the specified size (by more than one size) alters the intended foot-to-blade ratio and may result in an improper fit or performance. Fitting fins to feet larger than the stated size may cause overstretching or overloading, which can compromise the structural integrity of the fin. Such misuse voids all warranty coverage. POD rubber fins are designed exclusively for swimming purposes and are not intended for walking or running, as they are not footwear. Bending or flexing the blade beyond approximately 35° in any direction may cause tearing or cracking of the blade or sole. Damage resulting from such actions is not covered under warranty. To minimise the risk of damage when moving in shallow water, swim fins should be used only for swimming. Avoid forward walking or running while wearing fins. If movement on land or in shallow areas is necessary, walking or stepping backwards will help prevent undue stress to the blade and foot cavity.

    3 EVO's

Posted by Davo on 23rd Mar 2012

"Hey POD, just wanted to write to say thanks for making great fins. I wore my Pod Evo's for the first time yesterday in pumping surf. They're the perfect balance of softness and power, so comfy. They even feel like kicking in symmetrical fins even though they're longer on the outside. Really balanced kick. Cheers heaps."

    PF3 fins for Christmas

Posted by Greg on 29th Jan 2012

I was lucky to receive a set of PF3 fins for Christmas. I just got back from a great session of 4-5 ft hollow tubes over a shallow bank at Rennies Beach. Here are my thoughts, Fit Soft around my ankles and heels with extra room around my toes making it comfortable even after a long 2 hour session. Sand Sand build up wasn't an issue with a drain hole flushing and cleaning the fins foot socket area with ease. Performance Although the fit is soft around my foot, the sides of the fin are ridge and firm across the middle and just the right length to deliver exceptional forward thrust with just a few kicks. Overall I was very happy with the performance of my new PF3 fins, in the water the PF3 delivers speed and performance yet it's soft enough to not hurt your feet. They came with a carry bag big enough for my fins and beach towel(nice one POD).
