+ How to Measure Foot Length + Width

Use a ruler and paper against a wall to measure foot length from heel to longest toe. Width is measured at the widest point, as shown in the diagram.

POD PF3 Ocean Active Swim Fins - Limited Colour Edition (Red Straps and Rails, Mixed Black, Red and White)

Our Ocean Active PF3 swim fins carry the same advanced design DNA as the PF3 Evolution, with all the performance characteristics of the PF2 range and further refinement through an asymmetric ergonomic foot pocket. This design improves comfort while delivering more precise propulsion and flexibility than conventional asymmetric swim fins.

The asymmetric blade geometry leans toward the blade’s centreline, closely replicating a symmetrical balance. This reduces unwanted torsional twist and lowers load on the ankles during sustained swimming, wave riding, and water work.

The PF3 Ocean Active fins feature POD’s unique Splay Rails®, combined with vertical rails and asymmetric blades. This configuration enhances water displacement and directional control while maintaining stability through internal flow channels. The vertical rails improve wave-holding, allowing the rider to maintain control and line through the wave.

Manufactured from premium natural Malaysian rubber, the PF3 Ocean Active fins are built for longevity and consistent performance. The materials and construction reflect the same research-led development that defines the PF3 Evolution platform.

These performance swim fins are favoured by experienced bodysurfers, bodyboarders, lifeguards, and surf photographers who require reliable propulsion, stability, and reduced joint load during extended sessions.

Swim Fin Comparisons

If you would like to compare blade length differences between the PF2 and PF3 models, a reference image is available here. The additional blade length of the PF3 contributes to increased wave-holding capability and sustained drive.

A further comparison between PF3 fins and Churchill Makapuu swim fins is available here.

To confirm sizing, please refer to the PF3 foot and ankle size chart here.

POD PF3 Swim Fin Sizes

Step 1 - Foot Length and Width

  • Small/Medium: 7–8 = Length 24 cm, Width 9 cm
  • Medium: 8–9 = Length 25 cm, Width 9.5 cm
  • Medium/Large: 9–10 = Length 26 cm, Width 10 cm
  • Large: 10–11 = Length 27 cm, Width 10.5 cm
  • Measurements are maximum sizes before stretch.
  • Allow up to 5 mm stretch for a firm fit.

Step 2 - Ankle Width for Strap Fit

  • Small/Medium: 7–8 = Width 9.5 cm
  • Medium: 8–9 = Width 10 cm
  • Medium/Large: 9–10 = Width 10.5 cm
  • Large: 10–11 = Width 11 cm
  • Measurements are before stretch.
  • Strap stretch allowance is 10–15 mm.

Fit Guidance and Care

If your foot matches the width shown on the size chart but is slightly longer, the extended foot pocket can still provide a secure and comfortable fit without toe irritation.

PF3 swim fins are not designed to accommodate foot lengths more than 1 cm beyond the stated measurements. Overstretching or overloading the rubber alters the foot-to-blade ratio and may compromise structural integrity, voiding warranty coverage.

If you are unsure about sizing, please refer to the size chart or contact us for assistance before purchasing.

Practical Use

Rubber swim fins are not intended for forward walking or running. To preserve fin structure and longevity, we recommend walking or running backwards when wearing fins.

POD Fins are precisely engineered for use within the stated and engraved size range. Using a size below the specified size (by more than one size) alters the intended foot-to-blade ratio and may result in an improper fit or performance. Fitting fins to feet larger than the stated size may cause overstretching or overloading, which can compromise the structural integrity of the fin. Such misuse voids all warranty coverage. POD rubber fins are designed exclusively for swimming purposes and are not intended for walking or running, as they are not footwear. Bending or flexing the blade beyond approximately 35° in any direction may cause tearing or cracking of the blade or sole. Damage resulting from such actions is not covered under warranty. To minimise the risk of damage when moving in shallow water, swim fins should be used only for swimming. Avoid forward walking or running while wearing fins. If movement on land or in shallow areas is necessary, walking or stepping backwards will help prevent undue stress to the blade and foot cavity.

I’ve been kneeboarding for decades and these are the best fins I’ve had. A few major brands have really dropped the ball in quality and choice. Another Kneelo told me to give Pod a go and Im so surprised. Comfortable great drive from blades quality rubber that floats . These are the bomb Add the service and follow up by Shane POD is the only fin I’d ever used SToKED thanks Paul

Stellar fin! I’ve tried a huge variety of fins over the decades of bodysurfing and bodyboarding. I live in Hawaii and pods are quite hard if not impossible to find here. But fortunately the shipping was affordable and quick from pods! In the water they have plenty of power, good hold, they change directions easier than my classic vipers I had been using, and are comfortable. The sizing is larger than US they fit big, I ordered the correct size because I knew that from previous pods I had purchased. Awesome fin, 10/10 recommend.
