The POD Original Handcrafted Cedar Handboard and Long Sleeve Rash Guard pair a limited-production timber handplane with a rash guard built for extended time in the surf. The cedar handboard is individually numbered, hand-coated in marine varnish, and shaped for lift, direction, and hold through the wave. The rash guard protects the body during that time - UPF 50+ Lycra across the torso and arms, with 3mm wear-resistant ripstop panels from elbow to wrist where bodysurfers take the most contact with the board.
POD Original Handcrafted Cedar Handboard
Since the late 1980s, POD founder and designer Shane Vassallo has handcrafted each signature shape from select-grade Australian cedar. Each board is individually numbered, reflecting its unique grain, weight, and year of creation. Natural variations in timber grain, colour, and weight mean no two boards are identical.
Each board arrives hand-coated a minimum of eight times in marine varnish, with light sanding between each coat for durability, water resistance, and a refined satin finish. It is supplied in a black drawstring neoprene bag.
The convex deck supports a natural hand position in the palm. The concave bottom and keel fin work with water flow to support lift and directional hold through the wave, keeping the board from sliding downward and reducing spray toward the face.

POD Long Sleeve Rash Guard - Wear-Resistant Elbow Pads
The POD Long Sleeve Rash Guard uses UPF 50+ high-performance Lycra with a heavyweight flatlock construction. A non-slip rubber waistband sits at the hip and a 10mm board short anchor loop keeps the rash guard in position through movement in the water. The nylon-neoprene pattern fabric sits comfortably against the skin across longer sessions.
The defining feature is the 3mm ripstop padded panels that extend from the elbow to the wrist. Those panels protect against abrasion from the board surface during prone bodyboarding and bodysurfing, reducing wear on the garment and reducing contact pressure on the forearms over time.
